Ô Cayolar

Ô Cayolar is a non-profit that promotes the inclusion of people with intellectual and cognitive disabilities through sport, by enabling them to volunteer at trail running races alongside other volunteers. It's an approach that reverses roles: for the length of a race, the person being helped becomes the person helping.

The website had to carry that promise — warm and committed at once — and speak to very different audiences: race organisers, care and support organisations, volunteers, donors. And, above all, remain readable by the Cayoleurs themselves.

Issues

An end-to-end project: online brand identity, UX research, design and development.

  • Building a site accessible on two fronts: compliance with RGAA criteria (the French accessibility standard) on one hand, cognitive accessibility on the other.
  • Creating an online visual identity that conveys the world of trail running and the mountains while staying warm and festive.
  • Structuring an offer with several entry points (volunteering, partnering, supporting the association) without losing the visitor.
  • Showcasing a map of past and upcoming races, updated throughout the season.
  • Giving a volunteer-run association the means to keep the site alive on its own, with no technical skills required.

Achievements

  • Running UX workshops with the people directly concerned to co-design the Easy Read version (FALC): wording, information structure, visual cues.
  • Creating the online branding: type system, colour palette, illustrations and icons applied consistently across the site.
  • Developing the site and integrating a CMS so the team can manage races, content and testimonials independently.
  • Building a filterable interactive map (past / upcoming races), fed directly from the CMS.
